Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 12, 2026

Apercu ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website getapercu.com and the Apercuservice (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your display name and profile picture. This is handled by Supabase, our authentication and database provider.

b. Uploaded text data

When you upload a CSV or Excel file, the text you select for analysis is sent to our servers for processing. We do not permanently store your uploaded files. For standard analyses, uploaded files are processed without being retained as stored files. During the public CTA flow, the uploaded file may be temporarily stored in Supabase Storage solely for the duration of the analysis and is deleted after the analysis completes. Only the results of the analysis (cluster labels, topic names, and summary statistics) are saved to your project history.

c. Payment information

Credit purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy. We never receive or store your full card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment details. We store only a record of your credit balance and transaction history.

d. Usage analytics & error tracking

We use PostHog for product analytics and Sentry for error tracking and debugging. These services may receive technical telemetry such as browser or device details, page URLs, event data, error diagnostics, request metadata, and, for signed-in users, account identifiers we use for attribution or troubleshooting. We do not intentionally send uploaded file contents, source text, or saved analysis results to PostHog or Sentry.

e. Log data

Our servers automatically record standard log data including your IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. These logs are used solely for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To perform the clustering analysis you request on our servers and to use a third-party AI provider solely to generate topic labels or similar AI-generated output. We do not use your content to train any AI model.
  • To track your credit balance and process purchases.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g., receipts, account notices).
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
  • To monitor application health and fix errors to improve the user experience.

3. Third-Party Services

We work with trusted third-party providers only to the extent necessary to operate the Service:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Your email and project results are stored on Supabase infrastructure. In the public /try flow, a file may also be stored temporarily in Supabase Storage until the analysis completes.
  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processing. We share your email and purchase amount. Your card details never reach our servers.
  • Third-party AI provider — topic generation only. We may send limited text excerpts, cluster context, or similar input necessary to generate labels or summaries. The clustering logic itself runs on our servers.
  • PostHog — product analytics. Receives usage events and, for signed-in users, may receive identifiers such as user ID, email, and display name for attribution. We do not intentionally send uploaded file contents or source text to PostHog.
  • Sentry — error tracking. Receives error reports, stack traces, technical diagnostics, and related request metadata to help us fix bugs. We do not intentionally send uploaded file contents or source text to Sentry.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data and saved project results for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except for limited information we may keep where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or payment recordkeeping. Files uploaded through the public /try flow are temporary and are deleted after the analysis completes.

5. Your Rights

You may contact us at legal@getapercu.com to request that we:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your project data in a portable format.

We will review requests in light of applicable law, our security obligations, and our technical capabilities. You can also delete your account directly from your account settings page.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management, and we may use limited first-party analytics cookies or similar browser storage for product analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS, encrypted databases, and access controls to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please disclose it responsibly to legal@getapercu.com.

8. Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data through the Service, contact us at legal@getapercu.com and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting the updated version here and revising the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after the revised effective date means you accept the updated policy.
